Classes are available to SMART Local 7 Zone 2 members who are in good standing.

New Miner Training / Refresher Training

This course provides detailed information about the federal agency known as “MSHA,” the Mine Safety and Health Agency. What is its purpose and who does it serve? This course includes many different topics such as the difference between regulations and laws, inspections, employer’s rights and responsibilities, employee’s rights and responsibilities, citations, penalties for violations, imminent dangers, safe work practices and the complaint handling process.

New Miner Training consists of 24 hours of classroom instruction and a mine tour. Refresher training is for individuals that have successfully completed New Miner training previously.
