Classes are available to SMART Local 7 Zone 2 members who are in good standing.

This is an 8-hour (approximate time) welding test designed to qualify a welder to the American Welding Society’s code (AWS D1.1) for structural steel. The test consists of two 3/8” plate welds (one vertical up, one overhead). After welding, the test plates are visually inspected, then two samples from each test plate are removed and bend tested. The inspector will check for imperfections according to AWS D1.1 code for structural steel.
